Alternative Dispute Resolution and Consumer Rights

Our real estate agency complies with Portuguese legislation (Law No. 144/2015) regarding Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). We inform that all consumers have the right to use extrajudicial mechanisms to resolve conflicts related to the purchase, sale, or rental of properties and services provided by our company.

What is Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)


ADR allows disagreements between consumers and companies to be resolved quickly, free of charge, or at low cost, without needing to go to court. Processes may include mediation, conciliation, or arbitration and are conducted by independent and impartial entities.

When it may be used


ADR can be used whenever a dispute arises regarding:

  • Property purchase or sale contracts

  • Rental or property management contracts

  • Services provided by our agency

Available ADR Entities


Consumers can contact any entity accredited within the national consumer arbitration network, such as:

  • CNIACC – National Centre for Consumer Conflict Information and Arbitration

  • Consumer Conflict Arbitration Centre of Lisbon (CACCL)

  • CICAP – Information, Mediation, and Arbitration Centre of Porto

When contracting our services, consumers have the right to:

  • Receive clear and complete information about properties and contracts

  • Cancel or terminate contracts, where legally applicable

  • Submit complaints in case of non-compliance or service issues

  • Be informed of costs and charges before signing contracts

  • Access Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanisms

How to proceed in case of a dispute


Before resorting to ADR, we recommend that the consumer contacts us to try to resolve the issue informally and amicably.

If the issue is not resolved, the consumer may submit the complaint to an ADR entity of their choice, by completing the required forms and providing relevant documentation.

The ADR entity will handle the process impartially and propose a fair resolution.
